John Brennan Must Be Indicted

Today, with the House Judiciary Committee’s referral of former CIA Director John Brennan to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution, we’re one step closer to accountability for the Russia collusion hoax, one of the most egregious abuses of power in modern U.S. history.  It’s about time for Brennan to face indictment for his central role in launching this investigation of President Trump. For too long, Brennan has evaded justice, parading as a cable news pundit while the truth about his actions unravels.

Let’s recap the facts. In 2016, as CIA chief under President Obama, Brennan was instrumental in kickstarting the investigation into alleged Trump-Russia ties—a narrative that proved to be a complete fabrication. Declassified documents and recent reports reveal Brennan ignored warnings from veteran CIA officers who doubted the intelligence claiming Vladimir Putin favored Trump’s election.  Instead, he pushed a flawed assessment, relying on the discredited Steele Dossier—a dossier riddled with unverified gossip funded by the Clinton campaign. Brennan’s briefings to Congress and the Obama administration fueled the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane probe, which morphed into the Mueller investigation. That two-year spectacle cost taxpayers millions, divided the nation, and found zero evidence of collusion.

But Brennan didn’t stop at misleading officials. He testified before Congress in 2017, downplaying the dossier’s role and claiming the CIA hadn’t relied on it heavily.  Newly declassified information contradicts this, showing Brennan’s team selectively used open-source Russian media as “evidence” while suppressing dissenting views.  In a 2023 interview with lawmakers, he doubled down on these falsehoods, prompting today’s criminal referral for perjury and obstruction.  This isn’t just sloppy intelligence. It’s a deliberate violation of the law, potentially including false statements under 18 U.S.C. § 1001 and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Brennan’s actions smack of an “ends justify the means” mentality, a mindset that may trace back to his radical roots. In his own words, during a 1980 CIA polygraph, Brennan admitted voting for Gus Hall, the Communist Party USA candidate, in the 1976 presidential election. At the time, he was a college student, but this may have been more than youthful naïveté. Communism, with its history of purges, show trials, and state-sanctioned lies, teaches that any tactic is permissible to achieve power. One can speculate that this early flirtation ingrained in Brennan a willingness to bend—or break—the rules when it suited his anti-Trump agenda.

After all, Brennan wasn’t shy about his disdain for Trump. He publicly accused the president of treason on social media and in interviews, fanning the flames of division even after leaving office.  This from a man who rose to the pinnacle of U.S. intelligence despite his past communist sympathies. The CIA cleared him back then, but he was a CIA director who viewed political opponents through an ideological lens, weaponizing the agency against a duly elected leader.

The fallout from Brennan’s hoax has been immense. It undermined public trust in our institutions, emboldened foreign adversaries who watched America tear itself apart, and set a precedent for intelligence abuses. Now, with a grand jury probing these matters since August, and the DOJ under pressure to act, indictment is the logical next step. Brennan’s defenders will cry “retribution,” but this is about restoring the rule of law.
