Today NLPC filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request with the University of Delaware seeking all documents related to the transfer, curating, and access to the Senatorial Papers of Joe Biden to the university library and to order a search of those documents by the Board of Trustees for any reference to Tara Reade, who has accused Mr. Biden of sexual assault in 1993 when she was employed by Biden. Both the Washington Post and the New York Times have called for such a search of Biden’s papers.
The FOIA request also calls for the release of all visitor logs to the university’s library by Biden’s campaign or personal aides who have searched the files as has been reported. NLPC also requests that John Cochran, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, be recused from voting on the search and disposition of the requested documents as required by the … Read More ➡
The revelation by Project Veritas that ABC News killed a story three years ago by their reporter, Amy Robach, that would have exposed the sexually predatory conduct of late financier Jeffrey Epstein, raises the question: What is parent company Disney going to do about it?
And CBS Corporation – it’s obvious you fired the wrong person (Ashley Bianco) you had hired away from ABC, whom you believed leaked footage of Robach mourning the killing of her Epstein story, leaving the company vulnerable to a potential lawsuit for unfair termination. What is (pending) parent ViacomCBS going to do about it?
And with NBC News, which ran off investigative reporter Ronan Farrow, who was hot on the trail with plenty of evidence of sexual misconduct against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein: What are you going to do about it, parent corporation Comcast?
Then there’s CNN, which … Read More ➡
National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request this morning with the Federal Bureau of Prisons seeking photographs of Jeffrey Epstein and all records regarding his incarceration at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York and the circumstances of his apparent suicide.
Besides any photographs or video surveillance of Epstein and his cell, the documents requested include those that would show why Epstein was put on suicide watch, why he was taken off suicide watch, the log records of correctional officers checking on Epstein, visitor logs, why he did not have a cellmate, and why he was ever put in any cell that would enable him to hang a makeshift noose from the ceiling or fixture.
“NLPC calls upon the Bureau of Prisons and the Justice Department to immediately release the records requested as a matter of law, public transparency, and accountability,” said Paul … Read More ➡
National Legal and Policy Center filed suit today against the Department of Justice to force release of a document specifying a conflict of interest for which Special Counsel Robert Mueller received a retroactive waiver.
In the wake of demands for “transparency” through the release of the Mueller report, we are also asking for transparency.
Justice Department foot-dragging on a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by NLPC in September 2018 necessitated the suit. We asked for all records pertaining to the appointment of Mueller to be Special Counsel by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on May 17, 2017. The Justice Department regulations governing appointment of Special Counsels require a “detailed review of ethics and conflicts of interest issues” of any individual who is under consideration.
NLPC has already received a Justice Department document confirming that Mueller had a conflict, but it is withholding another saying what the conflict was … Read More ➡
Today we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking documents pertaining to the prosecution of Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) on bribery and related charges, and the Justice Department decision not to retry him. Menendez was tried once but that trial ended in a mistrial on November 16, 2017.
Why did the Justice Department let Menendez escape after pouring so many resources into the investigation, prosecution, and trial? One possible explanation is that political influence was exercised on Menendez’ behalf. Menendez’ lawyer is Abbe Lowell, who also represents Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law. Kushner and his family are longtime donors to Democratic politicians in New Jersey, including Menendez. Someone made the decision to save Menendez’ career and possibly keep him out of prison. We want to know who made the decision and on what basis.
The Justice Department announcement was made in a terse statement on January 31, citing … Read More ➡
