In an interview with Fox News published Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded directly to a New York City protester’s call for his arrest, brushing it off with characteristic defiance.
While visiting Manhattan last week, Netanyahu was met with demonstrations—one particularly vocal protester, New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (D), was filmed shouting through a bullhorn, “You are not welcome in New York. And we will not stop until you are in a cell.”
Asked by Fox News Digital if he was concerned about such threats, Netanyahu responded coolly: “No, I’m not worried. I’m worried about people not understanding that Hamas are the new Nazis.”

The Prime Minister was in New York ahead of meetings with U.S. officials and Jewish-American leaders as tensions continue to escalate between Israel and Hamas amid the war in Gaza. Netanyahu characterized the protests as misguided and emphasized that his government’s actions are in defense of democracy and innocent lives.
“This is the same Hamas that killed and raped women, children, and the elderly,” Netanyahu told Fox News, referring to the October 7 terror attacks that sparked the current conflict.
Fox News noted that Mamdani is part of New York’s Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) wing and has been a vocal critic of Israel’s actions in Gaza. The lawmaker and others have accused Netanyahu’s government of committing war crimes.
Despite international criticism and growing protests—including from left-wing American lawmakers—Netanyahu reaffirmed his stance that Israel’s campaign in Gaza is both moral and necessary.
