Omar Says She is Broke in New Filing; ‘She Can’t Keep Her Story Straight’

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has filed her financial disclosure form for 2025. It confirms what we have believed all along, that her husband Tim Mynett’s two businesses are failures, a far cry from her original 2024 disclosure report showing that they were worth between $6 and $30 million.

In apparent response to a complaint filed by NLPC, Omar amended her 2024 financial disclosure report in April 2026 to show that the couple’s assets to be worth only between $$18,000 and $95,000. Click here to read the Complaint.

According to the just-filed 2025 report, a venture capital firm called Rose Capital LLC and a winery called eStCru have no value. Omar reported that only the winery produced income, in the range of $201 to $1,000 for Tim Mynett.

“She can’t keep her story straight,” NLPC Counsel Paul Kamenar, who drafted the complaint, told the Washington Free Beacon. “There needs to be a full audit to straighten this out.”

As we pointed out in our complaint, Rose Lake claimed on its website to have had $60 billion in assets under management, which would have made it the biggest venture capital firm in the world, managing more money than well-known firms like Andreesen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital.

In late 2025, the names and bios of Rose Lake Capitals’ nine officers and advisors were quietly scrubbed from the firm’s website. They included prominent Democratic bigshots like former Senator Max Baucus. The removals may have been related to the burgeoning Minnesota welfare fraud scandal, and Omar’s connection to three of the fraudsters.

Mynett is a former political consultant with a checkered past. In apparent response to an NLPC complaint to the Federal Election Commission in 2019, Omar stopped using Mynett’s firm, through which 80% of her campaign spending had been routed. The appearance was that the couple were benefitting personally from contributions to her campaign.

Ironically, NLPC filed a complaint in June 2024 with the Office of Congressional Ethics (now named the Office of Congressional Conduct), alleging that Omar in 2023 had underreported the value of the winery, as well as a marijuana growing enterprise, that also appeared to have failed.

In short, Omar’s reported finances are a mess. It is incumbent upon the Office of Congressional Conduct and the Justice Department to fully investigate. Neither Omar’s 2025 disclosure, nor the amendment for 2024, address all the questions about the underlying assets.
