Rep. Alexandria Ocazio-Cortez (D-NY) has spent another $4,550 in campaign funds for a psychiatrist, according to her latest filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the first quarter to 2026. She had previously paid almost $19,000 to the doctor, known for his controversial therapeutic use of the drug ketamine.
On April 24, NLPC filed a supplement to a March 27 complaint to the FEC and the Office of Congressional Conduct alleging that the expenditures are personal in nature, and not campaign related, in violation of federal law and House Rules. From the supplemental complaint:
In its original complaint, NLPC alleged that AOC’s expenditure of almost $19,000 of campaign funds in 2025 to psychiatrist Dr. Brian W. Boyle ostensibly for “leadership training and consulting,” who has no experience or expertise in providing such service to political campaigns was for personal use. This supplement complaint is intended to further allege that AOC and her campaign spent additional campaign funds to Dr Boyle for personal use as reported in the latest FEC filing.
Accordingly, NLPC alleges that AOC expended a total of $23,275.00 for personal psychiatric services for herself or her staff and not for legitimate campaign purposes.
NLPC Counsel Paul Kamenar, who drafted the complaints, told the New York Post, “AOC needs to come clean and explain to her contributors and the FEC why she spent almost $24,000 of campaign funds on a Boston psychiatrist who specializes in ketamine therapy and has no expertise in political campaigns.”
