Failure to Seek Death Penalty in Laken Riley Case is ‘Miscarriage of Justice’

NLPC Counsel Paul Kamenar:

The illegal immigrant, Jose Ibarra, who viciously killed Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student, was found guilty of her murder today by a Georgia judge and sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, the maximum punishment sought by the prosecutor.

Laken Riley’s sister said it best at the sentencing hearing: “That predator is inhumane and the epitome of evil” and should never be allowed to hurt anyone else.

President Trump’s promise to deport such criminals and others that the Biden Administration had allowed into this country and who attacked other citizens cannot come soon enough. The blood of Laken’s death is on Biden and border czar Kamala Harris’s hands.

Moreover, the death penalty must be invoked by state prosecutors for these kind of heinous killings as the only just punishment. Indeed, President Trump vowed to make such murders by illegal immigrants a federal death penalty crime.

The prosecution’s decision not to seek the death penalty in this case was a miscarriage of justice. Instead, taxpayers will now pay for this monster’s lifetime care in prison.
