There was a time when the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) had to wait for traditional media to catch up. Our investigations into government corruption, corporate fraud, and ethical violations would be packaged up and handed off to reporters — and we’d cross our fingers that editors didn’t bury the lead or soften the blow.
Those days are over.
This month, the NLPC launched The NLPC Report, a new magazine-style podcast created to deliver our work directly to the American people. Structured much like 60 Minutes, the podcast features rotating segments from NLPC Chairman Peter Flaherty, constitutional attorney Paul Kamenar, Corporate Integrity Project Director Paul Chesser, and policy analyst Luke Perlot.
The podcast serves two missions. First, it drives sharp, timely content to NLPC’s social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. But more importantly, The NLPC Report gives listeners unfiltered access to the issues, investigations, and victories that mainstream media rarely cover — all straight from the team that dug up the truth.
This isn’t a vanity project. It’s a platform built from necessity.
For over 30 years, the NLPC has investigated corruption at the highest levels — from politicians to boardrooms — and brought those findings into the light. Founded in 1991 by Peter Flaherty and Ken Boehm, the NLPC was created in response to the House banking scandal that exposed how members of Congress were routinely overdrawing their accounts with no consequences. The idea was simple: no one should be above ethical scrutiny — not in Washington, not on Wall Street, and not in the boardroom.

That idea caught fire.
From uncovering influence-peddling by politicians and their families, to challenging the power of corporate elites, the NLPC has earned a reputation as one of the most effective watchdogs in the country. In recent years, that work has expanded into a new frontier: investor activism.
Now, through shareholder proposals, the NLPC is challenging companies like Walmart, Colgate, McDonald’s, BlackRock, and Meta — demanding transparency, fighting for free speech, and pushing back on ESG and DEI policies that are costly, divisive, and dishonest.
“Our war on DEI is already producing real results,” says Paul Chesser. “Companies are starting to back away. But don’t think for a second we’re letting them off the hook. We’re watching. And we’ll expose those who try to rebrand it under another name.”
The NLPC is evolving into more than just an investigative organization. With the launch of The NLPC Report, the Center becomes a full-fledged media voice — independent, accountable, and unapologetically committed to the truth.
“We started this podcast because the stakes are too high to wait for legacy media to do its job,” says Chairman Peter Flaherty. “Thanks to the support of our donors, we’re able to leverage new platforms and new technology to bring our work directly to the people. We will never relent in our mission to investigate and expose corruption — wherever it hides.”
