Is Ilhan Omar Above the Law? The NLPC Says: Absolutely Not.
The National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) is raising the alarm—and for good reason. There is a growing body of evidence surrounding Rep. Ilhan Omar that can’t be brushed aside any longer. From immigration and marriage fraud to ethical violations and questionable loyalties, it’s time for action. The NLPC is calling for an immediate FBI investigation. And if these serious allegations are proven true, Omar must face the consequences—including the possibility of deportation.
These aren’t new accusations, but they’ve only grown more serious over time. The most explosive? Claims that Omar may have married her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 to help him obtain U.S. immigration benefits—an act that would violate federal law. Public records suggest she continued a relationship with her first husband, Ahmed Hirsi, during her legal marriage to Elmi. In fact, she even filed joint tax returns with Hirsi while still married to Elmi.
Then there’s photographic evidence. Judicial Watch uncovered archived photos from 2015 showing Omar and Elmi together in London—directly contradicting her sworn divorce statements. And a DNA test, reported by the Daily Mail, allegedly showed a 99.999998% chance that Omar and Elmi are siblings. While not officially verified, that claim is deeply concerning.
But the story doesn’t stop there.
NLPC has filed ethics complaints against Omar for failing to properly disclose her husband Tim Mynett’s business interests—including ventures in the marijuana industry and a now-defunct winery. Both businesses collapsed amid lawsuits. Back in 2019, the NLPC also flagged potential campaign finance violations, accusing Omar of funneling campaign money to Mynett’s firm for personal gain. Not long after, she quietly stopped using his firm.
And then there’s the foreign influence angle.
In a recently resurfaced video, Omar is seen speaking to a Somali audience, bragging about how she can sway Somali politics from her seat in Congress. “If the Somali president does something we don’t like,” she says, “we can make a call and things will change.” That’s not the voice of a representative serving the people of Minnesota—it’s someone using the power and authority given to her by her constituents to meddle in a foreign nation’s affairs. That should raise red flags for every American.
The FBI looked into Omar in 2020—but under the Biden administration, nothing came of it. The NLPC believes the investigation was quietly buried for political reasons. With a new administration in place—one that values law and accountability—it’s time to reopen the case with no political interference.
If Omar committed fraud to gain U.S. citizenship and office, she should be denaturalized and deported. That’s the law. And no one is above it.
The NLPC is urging Americans to take action—right now.

The evidence may not be complete—Somalia lacks reliable records—but the pattern is undeniable. Omar refuses to release her own immigration and tax documents. As a public servant, she owes voters full transparency.
