Following Friday’s opening ceremonies at the Olympics in Paris, in which a French producer created a program that blasphemed a depiction of The Last Supper with role portrayals by drag queens and transgenders, Visa Inc. — a sponsor of the games — posted on X how impressed the company was with the event:
Welcome to #Paris2024! The Olympic Games Paris 2024 Opening Ceremonies were truly magnifique, and we’re excited to see our #TeamVisa athletes compete with the world’s best, attempt record-breaking feats, and inspire people to pursue their passions. #Paris2024 #Olympics #Visa… pic.twitter.com/xzzuazzbsl

The post was almost entirely rebuked by those who replied on X, including by one respondent who challenged Visa about one dragster’s exposure of his genitals on national television. Many others said they planned to cancel their cards and switch to Mastercard.
NLPC owns stock in Visa. Last year we submitted a shareholder proposal that would have required the company to answer for its health insurance policies which include the provision of transgender surgeries for minor dependents of its employees. However, the Securities and Exchange Commission allowed the company to exclude our proposal from its annual meeting.
Also last year, we sent a letter to Visa chairman Al Kelly demanding that the company rescind its endorsement of Black Lives Matter, following its implicit endorsement of Hamas’s attack on Eretz Yisrael (Israel). The shareholder proposal we sponsored for Visa’s January 2023 annual meeting strongly criticized Kelly in his (former) dual role as chairman and CEO, where he led the company to adopt a multitude of woke policies, including a soft-on-China stance while sponsoring the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
