The Walt Disney Company revealed this week its New York City-based headquarters, and that it will be named the Robert A. Iger building, a fitting ode to a guy who won’t leave, can’t bring himself to leave, doesn’t know how to leave, can’t think of anyone who could run the company better than him, and doesn’t know how anyone can bear to exist or work without him.
Now, they won’t have to, because there always will be the Robert A. Iger building as a legacy for a company started by some other guy who was forgotten long ago.
Because Robert “Bob” (“Bobby” to those closest to him) Iger is probably the greatest CEO ever, with a board of directors composed of loyalists chosen with his own two hands (and his cell phone, obviously), all will have many things to remember him by in the Robert A. Iger building, because we will have to remember him somehow since he’s not exactly immortal and won’t live forever — silly. Like these amazing things:
Noteworthy building amenities include a full-service café and coffee bar, outdoor terraces, wellness rooms, a large event space for employee gatherings, conference centers, a large screening room, a reading room, a bike room with shower facilities, a company store, TV studios, and much more.
The all-electric building features on-site solar panels, high efficiency dedicated outside air systems, high-performance facades, waste heat recovery, and electric heat pumps. The energy-efficient design approach is reflective of Disney’s 2030 environmental goals….
The Robert A. Iger building is an example of what makes Disney unique. It not only forges a shared community that allows the company’s storytelling to flourish, but it also connects Disney’s culture within a state-of-the-art complex that focuses on innovation, collaboration, and the indelible spirit of New York City.
Whether sipping java from a Mickey (or Bobby!) mug, lathering up and rinsing off, or marveling at the superfluous solar panels, those in the Disney-sphere won’t be able to forget the stamp put on the company by iconic CEO Robert A. Iger.
Yes, no one will ever forget how Robert A. Iger subordinated majority control of Disney theme parks to communist business partners for a much-needed expansion in China, or how he tweeted opposition to a Florida law that made schools inform parents about gender education of their children, or how he allowed LGBTQ+ transgenderism to proliferate throughout the employee ranks.
That the Robert A. Iger building has been dedicated in the pristine, supremely safe and child-friendly New York City is fitting indeed. No other place on earth could be more appropriate for this memorial structure.
And perhaps most fitting is that Disney subsidiary ABC has already started producing its very best political show in the Robert A. Iger building’s studios!
Congratulations to Robert A. Iger on your building!
