Carpenters Ex-Financial Secretary in Texas Indicted for Thefts

Carpenters at workOn September 15, Michael Doggett, former financial secretary of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 502, was indicted in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on one count of embezzlement from an employee benefit plan in the amount of $58,994 and one count of embezzlement from a labor union in the amount of $45,043. The union is based in Orange, Tex., in the Beaumont-Port Arthur area. The indictments follow a joint probe by the FBI and the Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security Administration and Office of Labor-Management Standards.
