Detroit Steelworkers President Sentenced for Records Fraud

steelworkers-logoOn September 14, Jerrold King, former president of United Steelworkers Local 842, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan to three years of probation, including 90 days of home confinement, and ordered to make restitution in the amount of $70.06 and pay a $25 special assessment. He previously made $900 in restitution. King had pleaded guilty in June to one count of concealing union records. The sentencing follows an investigation by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
