Ohio Machinists Local Secretary Charged with Embezzlement; Pleads Guilty

On June 14, Rachel Lanham, former secretary for Local Lodge 34 of the International Association of Machinists, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio to embezzlement of $104,876 in funds from the Columbus-based union. She had been charged in an information count on June 5. The charge and guilty plea follow a probe by the U.S. Labor Department's Office of Labor-Management Standards.
