Iowa Boilermakers Treasurer Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement

On September 2, Thomas Jon Witham, formerly secretary-treasurer for International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 106-D, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa to one count of embezzling $52,037.19 from the Mason City union. The guilty plea follows an investigation by the Labor Department's Office of Labor-Management Standards.
