On November 1, Robert Misuraca, former district staff representative at the Pittsburgh headquarters of the United Steelworkers International Union was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania to one year of probation and ordered to pay $266.53 in remaining restitution plus a $100 special assessment for embezzling $17,566.21 in union funds. He pleaded guilty this past June. He had been indicted in February with another Steelworkers staff representative, Curtis Reed, who allegedly stole $3,694.32. Misuraca since has served as an official of United Steelworkers Local 1000 in Corning, N.Y. The actions follow an investigation by the Labor Department's Office of Labor-Management Standards.
