On July 13, Lucy Irene Hastings, former recording secretary of American Federation of Government Employees Local 1969, pleaded guilty in Hennepin County, Minn. District Court to theft of union funds in the amount of $3,328.29. She had been charged in April. AFGE Local 1969 represents employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Minneapolis.
