Former Glass Workers President in Florida Sentenced

Glass Workers (GMP)  On February 2, Karl Youngerman, former president of Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International Union Local 208, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida to five years probation for conspiracy to embezzle funds from the Bradenton union in the amount of $18,218.91. He also was ordered to pay restitution in that amount to Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland. Youngerman had pleaded guilty in November. The guilty plea and sentencing follow an investigation by the Labor Department's Office of Labor-Management Standards.

Glass Workers logoOn November 5, 2010, Karl Youngerman, former president of Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International Union Local 208, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida to conspiracy to embezzle funds from the Bradenton union. He agreed to pay restitution in the amount of $18,218.91 to Zurich North America. Sentencing is scheduled for January 27. Youngerman is the last of the three defendants to face justice in this case. Last September 28, Anthony Green and Woodrow Anderson, respectively, the former vice president and treasurer of the local, each received a prison sentence of two years, plus 180 days of home confinement, and were ordered to make restitution. The actions follow a probe by the Labor Department's Office of Labor-Management Standards.

Officers of Glass Workers Local in Florida Indicted

Glass Workers (GMP) logoOn April 22, Karl Youngerman, Woodrow Anderson and Anthony Green, former officers of Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International Union Local 208, were indicted in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida on charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, embezzling union funds, making false entries in union records and filing false reports. Youngerman, Anderson and Green were, respectively, president, treasurer and recording secretary of the Bradenton union. The indictments follow an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department's Office of Labor-Management Standards.
