Kentucky Soft Drink Workers Treasurer Sentenced for Theft

Former Treasurer of Kentucky Soft Drink Workers Union Sentenced for Theft
On August 10, James Decker, former treasurer of the Independent Soft Drink Workers Union, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky to 10 months imprisonment and two years supervised release for theft of union funds. He also will have to pay $5,684 in restitution to the Burlington, Ky.-based union in addition to the $5,057 he already has paid. The sentencing follows a probe by the U.S. Labor Department's Office of Labor-Management Standards.

Soft Drink Workers Treasurer in Kentucky Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement

On March 19, James Decker, former treasurer of the Independent Soft Drink Workers Union in Burlington, Kentucky, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky to embezzling union funds of an unspecified amount. The guilty plea follows an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department's Office of Labor-Management Standards. (OLMS, 4/21/09).

Texas Office Manager Charged with Embezzlement, Conspiracy

On December 16, Sarah Crafts, former office manager of the Austin-based Texas Building and Construction Trades Council, was charged in U.S. District Court with one count each of embezzlement and conspiracy totaling $27,197, plus one count of embezzlement of $17,478.  The charges follow an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.  (OLMS, 1/9/09).
