Letter Carriers Secretary-Treasurer in Missouri Sentenced

letter carriers logoOn September 21, John McCain, former secretary-treasurer of National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 1016, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri to two years of probation and ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and a $100 assessment for embezzling $30,948 in funds from the Poplar Bluff union. He already had made full restitution. McCain had pleaded guilty in June after being indicted in January. The actions follow a probe by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
