International Association of Iron Workers Local 3 took a while to notice that its bookkeeper, Jennine Prince, was robbing its members blind. But the story has a happy ending all the same. On September 7, Prince pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania to embezzling $418,070.96 from the Pittsburgh-based union. Federal prosecutors say that Prince, 41, a resident of Hampton Township, Pa. (Allegheny County), diverted local funds to her own use by writing and cashing checks without authorization and stealing cash dues payments. She is scheduled for sentencing on January 13. Prince had been indicted this April following an investigation by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
