Regional Postal Workers Union Official in Texas Sentenced

Post officeOn May 2, Frankie Sanders, former Southern Regional Coordinator for the American Postal Workers Union, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas to 18 months in prison and three years of supervised release for claiming false travel reimbursements from the Houston-based labor organization during July 2003-May 2006. He also will have to pay $10,078.40 in restitution and a $100 special assessment. Sanders, who had been indicted in March 2010 for embezzling more than $13,000, pleaded guilty last November. The actions follow an investigation by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
